Global warming: Congo is getting hotter and dryer. "It is important to understand these changes because most climate models predict forests may be under stress due to increasing severe water shortages in a warmer and drier 21st century climate" -Liming Zhou.
Physical features: Dense vegetation and multiple layers of forest structure. Some areas stay evergreen all year. The soil of the forests are nutrient poor, weathered and acidic. Generally humid forests lack phosphorous. The Congo rainforest's soil is not suitable for agriculture (farming).
