- The common carp (also known as Cyprinus carpio) was introduced to the congo as a source of food and protein for the people living in the area. The problem with the common carp is, when they feed they churn up the bottom of the water and uproot the macrophytes. this alters the habit for native fish and other aquatic species.
- The bass (Micropterus salmonids) is also an invasive species in the Congo. It was introduced to the Congo because of its appeal as a sport fish as well for its tasty flesh. The bass has affected small populations of native fish through predation . Its diet is comprised of fish, crawfish, insects, and amphibians.
